We had a great session yesterday!
The collaborative process stepped up as we put together different elements of our personal ideas into one large mural that will be designed for the ward - combining different textures and elements to great one whole piece is so exciting.
Combining these elements really adds an extra depth and layered effect to a mural which can be seen as flat and two dimensional, sometimes not very exciting but we are considering it in a new perspective bring in three dimensional elements as well as layering an array of different textures.

The proposed next step would be to work with the elements digitally, in photoshop for example? This way, elements/images can be collaged, repeated, scaled etc within a digital document (wall size). This is the idea, but please to discuss this.
Needing to bring in next week for further development of idea: in physical and digital forms? – more elements into the mural.
Giedre's designs / trees
Elena’s cross stitch designs
Nadine’s illustrations / textures
Sacha's – pressed flowers
Reflection on the current elements / design:
Rhian – birds in different positions, different picnic elements – different version of whats’ here? Rocks for the path? Textures? Explore
Mary – flowers, landscapes elements – scanning in elements
Rachael – introducing the knitted element – how does it meet/integrate with the green textures?
Amber – mock up progress from this week in sketch-up / explore wall use.
Aneri – Prepare photoshop file / explore initial placements etc.
Joanne – leaves/tree textures. Explore leaves as trees? Path.
General thoughts:
Return to feedback/comments from Emily, Jessica and Dawn – e.g. keep it spacious – considering scale of elements. Bring these next week to help critique/make design decisions.
Explore how the background is created – collaging textures?
Mix crochet leaf and photographic leaf?
Enjoying collage feel – retain this when we move into the digital.
How much of the wall is being used? – current mock up uses top section only?
Explore smaller collaborations for other walls – these could be seen as ‘studies’ of the main mural or works which sit in relation to the mural.
Next week:
– We are aiming to produce a number of digital mock ups – bringing in missing elements and exploring a number of designs, which could be sent to Dawn as a mock up of the possible finished design.
– Documentation of the progress with the mural and the individual element.
– Communicating our ideas and our progress individually that will be contributing elements to the mural.
