Hello Corona Virus
You dropped in without an invitation to join us.
Without hesitation you have affected the whole nation.
Disguised yourself as an airborne infection.
Invisibly floating around without detection.
Making random selection of age, creed, gender and culture without rejection.
You have created a global pandemic
That is extremely real and not a gimmick.
Stay-At-Home and do not moan.
Stay safe don’t go past your garden gate.
Schools, colleges, and universities closed.
Churches, theatres and pubs in repose.
Stay alive, stay inside the politicians cried.
Don’t let this virus dodge and hide.
The streets are now empty.
Enforced working from home is plenty.
What a year we are having 2020.
Our NHS workers are to be admired,
Although many more masks and gowns are required
Stand outside clap, applaud and bang bin lids,
Paint rainbows and protect our kids.
Hope we can be all patient in Self-isolation.
Two metre separation,
Take responsibility as a Nation
Do essential shopping and online sales,
No walking in crowds on country trails.
Wash your hands, don’t touch your face,
This slowed down life isn’t a race.
Try yoga, gardening and YouTube viewing,
We will get through it by keep on doing.
So, come on Corona Virus, get behind, and not inside us.
Vaccinations will see you off,
Then we shall no longer splutter and cough.
And hopefully Covid-19 you will have been
a pandemic one off.
