- Theme to focus for the mural/frameworks; nature/ gardens – birds- garden- depth with layers, each component people can contribute to – some elements can be three dimensional laser cuts – engraved as well- different styled trees- materials- using different materials- nature scenes- green and blue colours- something we need to consider.
- Textiles can be in frames due to the hygiene - still continuing the theme on – help with directional landmarks in order for them find their way throughout the ward- three walls as well as spreading it throughout the whole ward.
- Hanging frames with command strips- no screws- charity shop frames- getting rid of the glass and getting Perspex instead.
- Crochet a leaf – and having textures- from various materials- scan them and print them onto vinyl or paper template that can be laid out onto the mural- layering it- more collaborative that way- collage it, digitise it and then print it so it can be applied to the wall.
- And those singular elements, can then be placed into frames and they can be spread across the wards.
- Over the top of those layers, we can have Giedre’s idea of laser cut trees that could be also engraved, can be over the top of everything – repetition of trees, and a direction of leaves that could be blowing in the wind... to create movement across the mural.
- Anything that has been made separately can be put into those individual frames.
- Laser cut trees, can be simplified but also we have to consider the depth of it- and they can be on either ends or both ends of the mural. or even centralised, as if you are standing underneath the tree.
- Considering the depths of the mural- we need to add depth:
- Foreground –the garden scenery, textile based works that could be scanned and those textile elements can then be added to the frames. – bird bath with birds drink the water - Or washing themselves.
- Middle ground – Laser cut trees behind the scene (30ml depth)
- Background– hills, cottages, allotment, green house, little buildings – nothing too detailed, maybe like a sketch like detail.
- Knit, crochet, leaves or even press flowers that can be scanned.
- Considering Vinyl as material- and how it can be used for this mural – 1000x 1000 millimetres- use vectors to cut it and measure everywhere to know the exact sizes that we would need if we were to use this as the material basis for the mural to be printed onto it.
- Colours- green, blue, yellow, brown, purple, - trees -
- Thinking of tactile elements and materials by scanning certain materials in and scanning them.
- Thinking about production of the works- discussing the materiality that we could include - having printed images that we could work from, Mary’s garden scenery sketch was something that we wanted to focus on as the middle ground element- and then others can develop the scenery through the layered effects.
- Next week Presenting the ideas- mocking up the different elements that we will be wanting to show as the final concept- presenting the works- scan elements and blow them up in sizes if they are smaller.
- Presenting the groups ideas on a mood board type of presentation- setting out a mood board by everyone printing or collecting everyones contribution to create one whole idea for the mural - so Emily and Dawn can see the depth and materials that can be considered.
- Preliminary designs, drawings and ideas can be sent to Amber, so she can upload them to the sketch-up design that she had created, so again it can add a visualised perspective, that could also be presented to Dawn (Lime Arts) and Emily (Head Nurse on Ward 45). – This can just given them an idea of what the final outcome could look like.
